He was dealt a pretty tricky pre-season what with injuries, disruption and red cards beyond his control. To pull that performance out of the hat, let alone the result, is very laudable.
We were perhaps a little lucky today - some of the Arsenal chances would have gone in on another day I think - but to see us putting together some nice football with a youth player as captain and another as record youngest prem player away from home against a front-runner for the title with their team packed with world stars should make every west ham fan very proud.

WHOicidal, same here, we need as many threads like this as possible, after the fucking disgusting shit thrown at a manager 2 months into the job with a really hard start on his hands. It was incredible, but sadly not surprising.
Still, it shuts the cunts up for an afternoon.

Loved how we played calm and to feet. Under Allardyce we played wider and looked for those crosses.
I think we actually defended almost identical to Allardyce though. Quite deep, didn't mind them having a go at us. Adrian was busy.
The big difference was Payet, he seemed to have a presence around him that calmed everyone down and made us believe in ourselves attacking. Not that we did a lot of that. But it was enough for to unsettle Arsenal.

At no point were we pushed into an Allardyce-style 9 man defence plus a very lonely forward, despite being up against a good side dying to send out signals to the rest of the title hopefuls.
We always had a discernible midfield.

The best managers have always built their sides with a strong defence, the difference with BFS was he couldn't bring it on himself to actually try and win a match. His obsession with defence was the be all and end all.

Whatever anyone may think about Bilic
We are all Individuals we do not all think the same, and although I agree it is ridiculous starting so soon having a moan at our very new manager some who saw what happened in Europe have the right to be frustrated.
Personally I did not give two hoots about Europe debacle but the poor sods who travelled and some who just wanted West Ham to do better than they did and wanted to see more effort better players etc have every right to vent their frustrations.
Let us all be one its too soon to begin the divisive dance that we all normally do around the middle of the season.
Just wanna say Bilic was the best we could get and we must all get behind him for at least a season or so whatever the outcome.
